Chris Hemsworth, who is best known for playing Thor in Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), has finally addressed the claims that he is quitting Hollywood due to ‘dementia’.

Hollywood star Chris Hemsworth is clearing the air surrounding his health. The actor, who is best known for playing Thor in Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), has addressed the rumours that he’s been contemplating “retirement” ever since he discovered his genetic predisposition for Alzheimer’s.

While speaking to Vanity Fair, the Australian actor, 40, set the record straight about being predisposed to developing the type of dementia. “It really kind of pissed me off because it felt like I had been vulnerable with something personal and shared this.”

“No matter how much I said, ‘This is not a death sentence,’ the story became that I have dementia and I’m reconsidering life and retiring and so on,” he continued, explaining that he isn’t quitting Hollywood anytime soon.

Chris first discovered of his risk of the disease when he underwent genetic testing for an episode of his Disney+ and National Geographic series, Limitless. In one episode, it was shared on-camera that he has two copies of the APOE4 gene, which puts him at an eight to 10 times higher risk of developing the disease than someone in the general population.

Earlier, in an interview with Men’s Health, Chris discussed that he is prioritising his health, with a particular focus on strengthening his mental well-being.

He explained, “I’ve always been pretty consistent with my exercise commitments, but lately I’ve really felt the importance of taking time for yourself without any outside voice or stimulation and making time for stillness. I do a lot of meditation and breathing work mostly during sauna and ice bath routines.”

“For me my favorite mindfulness work comes from the immersion in physical actives that allow me to be fully present and force me out of me head and into my body, in particular surfing. I have a more consistent approach to my sleep,” he said.
